Indian Wedding Ceremony
Indian weddings in Hindu religion are made in heaven and are totally
celebrated for three to four days. In
those days, all kinds of religious ceremonies have been practiced by the
witness of Fire. Fire is a sacred natural element and it is always pure and
godly quality.
According to our Hindu culture, wind, land, fire, water and sky have
been closely connected with our entire body systems and natural systems. So they have been considered as our gods and
all our marriages have been done only by the witness of these essential natural
elements. If any marriage done by a poor person, he will try to follow all the
religious rituals without fail. In some
castes, marriages will be done by bride side.
In some castes marriages has to be done compulsory by bridegroom side. But all marriages will be firstly proposed by
only bridegroom side.
Before betrothal, both families will visit mutually to other family and
they will have a light dinner when they fix the date of marriage. Then they
will fix a date first to have betrothal.
Usually betrothal will be celebrated by the effort of bridegroom side
only. After betrothal usually within a
month, marriage date will be fixed.
Marriage ceremonies will be going on for two days.
First day evening, there will be procession for wedding couples for a
shorter distance. It will start from any
nearest family God’s temple to the marriage hall. Then both will be ready for
reception in the same evening. During their reception, a grand vegetarian dinner
will be provided to the visitors with minimum 20 to 25 items with sweets.
Then
next day early morning, couple will get married in the dawn. A dollar like ornament with yellow color
thread (known as THAALI) will be tied by the bride with three ties to his
beloved. She should not remove that
sacred chain with dollar till her husband’s death. This is our ancient sacred practice and in
our religion.
Every woman will follow
this. In every marriage, married couple
and their family members will donate dresses to their friends and relatives
according to their richness. Girl side will give some amount to the male
side for his special wedding dresses and golden ring.
Male side will purchase a costly silk dress
to the bridegroom to wear on their marriage occasion. Also they will make
golden dollar with chain. In the same day morning, grand Tiffin

auspicious time, couple will go to bed
to start their sexual life.
