Dental hygiene is the regular maintenance of your teeth and gums to prevent your teeth from both common and specific symptomatic dental problems. It is purely related with caring of your teeth and gums. Tooth decay and gum diseases are common to every one and by following some hygienic steps in your day to day life, you can prevent them. Brushing the teeth twice a day by a suitable toothbrush and cleaning teeth by an antiseptic mouthwash after taking every meal in a perfect manner are some essential principles which you have to follow without fail.
According to your dentist advices, it is important to take some essential preventive measures in your day to day life. For example if you are ready to coat your teeth with fluoride or if you use any fluoride based toothpaste, it will certainly strengthen and protect your teeth.  You have to keep your teeth and gums stay healthy. If you take low sugar diet with highly enriched fiber, it will keep your teeth and gum so healthy always. If you want to keep your dental hygiene in a healthy manner you have to do some essential works such as teeth filling, professional cleaning of teeth, taking some diagnostic X-rays if needed, using an antiseptic mouth wash, avoiding sugary drinks and food, having regular visits to the dentist that is once in every six months and so on.  
If you are following the above principles, then you can easily be escaped from   “tooth decay”.  Since tooth decay has been considering as one of the common dental diseases, it is very important to protect your teeth from tooth decay. Usually all dentists are advising people to start their regular dental care from their childhood itself.  As prevention specialists, they are sincerely advising people to take care of their children’s teeth and gums even though if there are no signs of infections.
